There are times when you may feel the need to block a phone number and avoid unwanted calls, and telemarketers are annoying or ex-boyfriend / girlfriend who just accept that it's over ! The reasons to block a phone number are many, but the solutions are not numbered and small. Depending on the model of your cell phone and company, it could be a solution.




How to block the phone number and avoid unwanted calls

There are different ways to manage unwanted calls and block a phone number. All methods do not work for everyone, so you must carefully choose an option that works for you.


"Do not call" registry

This option is especially useful if you try to block a telemarketer. If you are in the US, you can register for the National Do Not Call or call 1-888-382-1222 from the number you want to block telemarketers keep at bay. It is illegal for telemarketers to call after being added to this list. If you are in India, there are national numbers as the place where you can register your phone number.


Carrier support

AT & T: If you are a customer of AT & T Wireless, you can make use of a premium service called "Parental Control", which allows you to limit who you text or call you can block or allow certain numbers. Its price is only $ 4.99 per month.

Verizon: Go to Verizon Wireless and access your account. Then go to "My Services" and select the spam control. Here you can add up to 5 phone numbers you do not want to contact or even text.

Sprint and T-Mobile: Currently, Sprint and T-Mobile does not provide an easy way to block unwanted calls, although there is a work around for Sprint users. You can block all numbers that are not in your phone contacts. To do this, go to Settings -> Security -> Other [password will last 4 digits of your phone number] -> Call settings. Specific options for mobile phone

Off late, mobile phone manufacturers have started providing features to help block phone numbers. Monitor or downloadable option to restrict incoming calls.


Nokia: Nokia Symbian users can download Blacklist applications that can block specific phone numbers to make a call.

Blackberry: If you have a Blackberry, you can use a program called Call Blocker effective BerryWAV. iPhone: There is an easy option available for iPhones if you do not use iOS 7. Check the update below if you're on iOS 7. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, there are a couple of applications neat that will help you - and MCleaner iBlacklist.

Update: If you're on iOS 7, you can block anyone with a click on your iPhone. This will block the person calling, texting and FaceTiming. To do this, go to your contacts, select one, and scroll down to hit "Lock".




Silent mode for specific contacts

There are times when a friend or relative annoying callers continuously and not comfortable saying to cut them. A simple way to handle such situations is to activate the silent mode for such contacts. The trick is to have a calm assigned to such contacts.
